Obama's Iraq Withdrawal Plan Actually Bush's Plan

Yesterday, President Obama announced a plan to reduce forces in Iraq down from a current 142,000 troops to 50,000 until 2012 and possibly keep troops there after if needed and requested by the Iraqi government.

The main stream news media is making a big deal of this, as if it were some milestone.

What they don't want people to know or realize, this is the plan that the Bush Administartion and Iraq had negotiated and signed last year ! All US forces were to be out of Iraq by 2011, unless the US was requested to leave troops at the request of the Iraqi government.

So while Obama takes all the credit, this is really President Bush's plan that is being initiated.

As a matter of fact, President Obama and America have former President Bush and the brave men and women of the US Military to thank for the highly successful "surge" in troops he and Gen. David Petraeus put in place, making withdrawal possible.

In his comments Friday, Obama noted the progress made.

"Thanks in great measure to your service," he said, "the situation in Iraq has improved. Violence has been reduced substantially from the horrific sectarian killing of 2006 and 2007.

"Al-Qaida in Iraq has been dealt a serious blow by our troops and Iraq's Security Forces, and through our partnership with Sunni Arabs," Obama continued. "The capacity of Iraq's Security Forces has improved, and Iraq's leaders have taken steps toward political accommodation."

He further lauded January's elections showing Iraqis have begun "pursuing their aspirations through peaceful political process."

Iraq has been a big success, which explains why you never hear about it in the mainstream news media anymore. Suicide bombings and attacks on troops have become relatively rare, and now that Bush is out of office, there's little political profit remaining for the left in bashing America's Iraq theatre camapign in the war on terror.

Whether or not you agree with Bush, he brought a kind of democracy to Iraq that can be found nowhere else in that area. His plan rocked al-Qaida back on its heels, to the point where its survival is in doubt. Iraq is a model.

In short, Obama's policy is Bush's policy. The fact that our brave men and women in the military can now come home proudly is a tribute to former President Bush's steadfastness even in the face of insurmountable criticism.

Senate Approves Amendment Banning Fairness Doctrine

The Senate today approved an amendment that would ban the reinstatement of the "Fairness Doctrine".

Sen. Jim DeMint (R) of South Carolina attached the amendment, called the Broadcaster Freedom Act, to a bill giving the District of Columbia a voting representative in the House. It passed by a wide margin of 87-to-11.

However, it's not clear if the amendment will survive as Congress debates the voting rights bill.

Sen. Dick(the Turbin)Durbin (D)of Illinois also won approval for an alternate amendment ordering the Federal Communications Commission to encourage radio ownership "diversity." It passed by a vote of 57 to 41.

DeMint's Office called Durbin's amendment a back door imposition of the "Fairness Doctrine" by breaking up Radio ownership.

The "Fairness Doctrine" was introduced into law in 1949 and basically stated that Radio and TV stations must present opposing points of political view. In 1987 President Reagan repealed the "Fairness Doctrine". And rightfully so.

There is no need for the "Fairness Doctrine", if the Liberals want to present their views, which they have done, they can do so, if they can find a radio network to carry them, such as Air America.

The problem for Liberal Talk Radio shows is that they historically do not attract a large audience and therefore do not generate much advertising revenue, which is how the stations make money.

The "Fairness Doctrine" would force radio stations and networks to present opposing views to the successful conservative talk shows, thus forcing them to lose money and maybe even consider not presenting the conservative point of view.

It has been reported that President Obama has no interest in reinstating the "Fairness Doctrine". But we all know that there are those Democrats in Congress in both the Houses and the Senate(Pelosi,Reid) who want to see the demise of conservative hosts such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and many others.

DeMint said: "We need to make it a law that the FCC or this Congress cannot implement any aspect of the Fairness Doctrine."

Al-Qaeda Founder Blasts Bin Laden & al-Zawahiri for Terror War

One of Al-Qaeda's founders, Sayyid Imam al-Sharif, recently began a revolt against Osama bin Laden.
"The terrorist attacks on September 11 were both immoral and counterproductive."

Sayyid Imam al-Sharif, who goes by the nom de guerre Dr Fadl, helped bin Laden create al-Qaeda and then led an Islamist insurgency in Egypt in the 1990s.

In a book written from inside an Egyptian prison, he launched a frontal attack on al-Qaeda's ideology and the failings of bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

"Every drop of blood that was shed or is being shed in Afghanistan and Iraq is the responsibility of bin Laden and Zawahiri and their followers," writes Dr Fadl.

"The terrorist attacks on September 11 were both immoral and counterproductive, he writes. "Ramming America has become the shortest road to fame and leadership among the Arabs and Muslims. But what good is it if you destroy one of your enemy's buildings, and he destroys one of your countries? What good is it if you kill one of his people, and he kills a thousand of yours?" asks Dr Fadl. "That, in short, is my evaluation of 9/11."

He goes on to write about Muslims who move to the West and then take up terrorism.

"If they gave you permission to enter their homes and live with them, and if they gave you security for yourself and your money, and if they gave you the opportunity to work or study, or they granted you political asylum," writes Dr Fadl, then it is "not honorable" to "betray them, through killing and destruction" .

Dr Fadl focuses his attack on Zawahiri, a key figure in al-Qaeda's leadership and a fellow Egyptian who he has known for 40 years. Zawahiri is a "liar" who was paid by Sudan's intelligence service to organise terrorist attacks in Egypt in the 1990s, he writes.

Law Makers Are Now Questioning Obama's Place of Birth

A new law suit is being filed by a California attorney,Orly Taitz, who has four cases pending over the issue of President Obama's eligibility to be President.

The latest suit will include a demand from state lawmakers who forward state funds to Washington for documentation of his qualifications.

Four have signed up so far, including state Rep. Eric Swafford of Tennessee, who agreed to be a plaintiff "for a Writ of Mandamus to obtain original birth certificate, immigration records, passports and other vital records for Barry Soetero aka Barack Hussein Obama."

Taitz said the case will probably include members of the military as plaintiffs, since both state lawmakers and military officers are obliged to follow orders from the president, and both have a need to know the orders are legitimate.

"In the military, those would be unlawful orders, and [following them] would subject the officers to courts-martial," she said. "In the legislatures, they cannot follow any of his bills or orders they don't know who he is.

"As far as we know he is a foreign national, why should state legislators send any funds from the state to a foreign national?" she said.

Meanwhile:

U.S. Senator Richard Shelby, R-Ala has weighed in on the controversy over Barack Obama's eligibility for the Presidency by saying he has never seen proof the new president was actually born in Hawaii.

"Well, his father was Kenyan and they said he was born in Hawaii, but I haven't seen any birth certificate". "You have to be born in America to be president."
