Teddy Loved To Hear Chappaquidick Jokes

According to Ed Klein of Newsweek Ted Kennedy liked to hear about any new jokes about Chappaquidick:

Newsweek's Ed Klein (told interviewer) Katty Kay about Kennedy's love of humor. How the late senator loved to hear and tell Chappaquiddick jokes, and was always eager to know if anyone had heard any new ones. Not that Kennedy lacked remorse, Klein quickly added, seeming to intuit that my jaw and perhaps those of other listeners had just hit the floorboards. I gather it was a self-deprecating maneuver on Kennedy's part, exercised with the famous Kennedy charm, though it sounds like one of those "I guess you had to have been there" things.

Here is the transcript of the clip:

Kay: Ed Klein, that's what I'm hearing today, that people are sad at his passing, and yet celebrating this huge life and its huge long list of accomplishments.

Klein: I think he'd be the last person who would want us, those he's left behind, to, um, be, uh, morose and, and full of bathos. I think he, he --

Kay: He would come in with a big guffawing laugh and make us laugh too.

Klein: He would, yes. You're so right, he would. And he'd probably have a joke to tell as well.

Kay: At his own expense.

Klein: Well y'know, he, I don't know if you know this or not but, one of his favorite topics of humor was indeed Chappaquiddick itself. And he would ask people, "have you heard any new jokes about Chappaquiddick?"

I mean, that is just the most amazing thing. It's not that he didn't feel remorse about the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, but that he still always saw, um, the other side of everything and the ridiculous side of things, too.

Kay: Ed Klein, former foreign editor of Newsweek, and author of a new book on Ted Kennedy.

"...he still always saw, um, the other side of everything and the ridiculous side of things, too...."

Really, what other side, it's funny that someone died and you are responsible for it, it's funny that you refused to take responsibility for it, it's funny that a young lady's life was cut short because of his negligent and criminal act.

Oh yes there is a ridiculous side to all of this, it's ridiculous that we are honoring a man who was responsible for a young woman's death as a result of a criminal act and negligence on his part afterward.

Study: Health Care Reform Will Punish Employers, Kill Jobs

A provision in President Obama's health care reform plan, known as the play-or-pay mandate, requiring businesses to offer health insurance to their employees or face a federal tax would cost employers at least $49 billion dollars a year, putting 5.2 million employees at risk of losing their jobs, according to a study commissioned by the conservative Heritage Foundation.

"Health care reform is not going to be free," said economist Mark Wilson, who authored the study.

Under the provision, another 10.2 million employees will face stunted wages and the loss of other benefits as employers try to find ways to fund the mandates.

"Those will be a difficult decision for them to make and they're also going to have to decide to the extent they can raise prices and pass the cost onto consumers," Wilson said.

ObamaCare To Become TeddyCare

The passing of Senator Ted Kennedy has members of the Senate calling for the health care bill to bear Kennedy's name if it is signed into law. Everyone saw this coming. "Do it for Teddy" will be the new battle cry.

Rush talked aabout it yesterday:
RUSH: Senator Robert Byrd, Democrat, West Virginia, the only Senator to have served longer than the late Senator Kennedy mourned his friend today, saying his heart and soul weeps. Senator Byrd said that he hoped health care reform legislation in the Senate would be renamed in memoriam of Kennedy. "I had hoped and prayed that this day would never come," Byrd said in a statement. "My heart and soul weeps at the loss of my best friend in the Senate, my beloved friend, Ted Kennedy. In his honor and as a tribute to his commitment to his ideals, let us stop the shouting and name calling and have a civilized debate on health care reform which I hope, when legislation has been signed into law, will bear his name for his commitment to insuring the health of every American." Nancy Pelosi has pretty much said the same thing: "Kennedy health reform dream will be real this year."

The main stream news media and the left are tripping over each other trying to encourage the passing of the healthcare reform bill as a way to honor Kennedy.

Schultz, Huffington: Obama Should Use Kennedy Death to Promote Left-Wing Politics

NBC Exploits Kennedy to Push ObamaCare: 'National Sorrow Has Created Political Momentum Before'

Brian Williams: In Lieu of Flowers for Ted, Pass Health Care Reform

Just yesterday I recieved this email from Democrats.com: Honor Ted Kennedy by Passing Real Health Reform:

At the 2008 Democratic Convention, after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, Sen. Ted Kennedy said:

This is the cause of my life - new hope that we will break the old gridlock and guarantee that every American - north, south, east, west, young, old - will have decent, quality health care as a fundamental right and not a privilege.

Kennedy chaired the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP). On July 15, Kennedy's committee passed the Affordable Health Choices Act, which "will reduce health costs, protect individuals' choice in doctors and plans, and assure quality and affordable heath care for Americans."

It also includes a "strong public option that responds to the wishes of the American people to have a clear alternative to for-profit insurance companies."

Tell your Representatives to honor Sen. Kennedy by passing real health reform:

Senator Kennedy was too ill to vote for this bill, but he praised its passage:

Americans are an extraordinary people. We have created a nation of liberty and justice. We have defeated forces of oppression, and we have spread prosperity and progress across the globe. When the American people are on the march, there is no barrier that can resist them, no obstacle that can block their path.
The American people are on the march once more , and they will not stop until quality, affordable health care is the birthright of every American. And we are with them every step of the way.

We, the American people, are "on the march." As my Representative, I urge you to act quickly to honor Senator Ted Kennedy by passing real health reform - including a strong public option that offers "a clear alternative to for - profit insurance companies."

Thanks for all you do!

Bob Fertik

So the push is on to try and use the "National Sorrow" or whatever other sappy tactic these liberals think will work to pass healthcare reform because they know that before Kennedy's death, the bill was a dead stick.

Don't fall for the trick folks, the bill as written is still a bad bill no matter who died, especially Senator Ted Kennedy.

(Yes folks, it's true, I subscribe to Democrats.com emails, I utilize the same strategy uses by many Generals, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I keep up with whats going on in the Democrats arena by subscribing.)

Obama's Mombasa Hospital Birth Record ?

WorldNet Daily is reporting that the man who claimed to have a copy of Barack Obama's birth certificate and attempted to sell it on ebay and then disappeared, has reappeared with a video of the document he claims proves Obama's Kenyan birth.

Lucas Smith, known by the eBay handle "colmado_noranja," claimed to have an authentic birth certificate from Coast Provincial Hospital in Mombasa proving that Obama was born there at 7:24 p.m. on Aug. 4, 1961.

He has released a video of him showing the document, which includes a close-up shot of the document's raised seal and the alleged footprint of Barack Obama. ( See video below)

"My name is Lucas Smith, an American," the video states. "This is the birth certificate of Barack Obama."

"I do have a background. I've made mistakes in my life," Smith told WND in an email. "It took a guy like me to go and get tangible proof about Obama. I don't mind breaking a few laws or policies here and there. I don't mind paying the military in foreign countries to look the other way ... The military [in Africa] will grant you access to anything for just a few dollars. People are starving. So yes, it takes a guy like me to get things done once in a while."

At this time folks, I publish this article and leave it up to you to form your own opinion. I do know that hospitals do produce their own birth certificates that have a footprint and a seal. I have my sons. But I'm not sure whether or not they did this in Mombasa or in 1961 or not. I also know that at least here in the United States, the hospital birth record is not "certification of birth", you still need to obtain an "official birth certificate" from city hall.
