President Trump: The First Six Months

maga

Republicans Voters More Aligned With Trump Than GOP Congress

Over six months into the Trump presidency, most Republican voters still say they relate more to the president’s political views than those of the GOP representatives in Congress.

A recent Rasmussen Reports Poll finds that 45% of Likely U.S. Voters say that their views are closest to Republicans in Washington, including 33% who are more aligned with Trump and just 12% who relate more to the average Republican in Congress.

The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on July 20 & 23, 2017 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.

WaPo/ABC Poll: Conservatives More Motivated to Vote in 2018

Democrats keep freaking out over the presidency of Donald Trump, Americans are getting pretty sick and tired of their hysteria. A new Washington Post poll conducted with ABC News attempted to measure voter enthusiasm as we go into the next cycle of elections. What they learned is that Trump supporters actually are more motivated after the past six months of leftist overreaction.

The poll shows that registered voters want Democrats to control Congress to be a check on Trump by a 52-38 percent margin, but it also shows Democrats are less enthusiastic about voting than Republicans are. While 65 percent of Republicans and GOP-leaning adults say they are “almost certain to vote,” just 57 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning adults say the same.

The poll is great news for Republicans. It seems that Democrats' fascist reaction to the President is not playing as well as they hoped.

Poll: 88 Percent of Trump Voters Would Vote For Him Again

jRMy57rmT5mOiM9jNbkL_170530114725-01-donald-trump-solo-file-story-top

According to a recent Reuters/Ipsos Poll conducted between July 11 and 12, 88 percent of Trump Voters said they would vote for him again if the election was held today.

That’s up from a similar Poll that was conducted in May that indicated that 82 percent would do so again.

Respondent Brian Barnes said, “I think he’s doing all he can even though the Republicans in the House and Senate are creating a lot of problems” by not passing a health care bill.

Elaine Kamarck, an expert in American electoral politics at the Brookings Institution, said when looking ahead to 2020, what matters is not how much Trump’s numbers go up and down, but where they fluctuate.

“If … disenchanted Trump voters are in California, it doesn’t matter,” Kamarck said. “If they live in Wisconsin or Michigan or Pennsylvania, it matters.”

Many Trump supporters believe they picked the best alternative, regardless of what comes out about Russia and the Trump campaign.

“I don’t know what all was done,” said Jack Artley, 43, of Pennsylvania. “No matter how it comes out, even if it comes out that there was some shady business going on there, I’d rather Trump in there than Clinton. So, whether he had to cheat or not to get in, I’m OK with that.”

“You really talk to people and, you know what drove a lot of people?” said Tom Carroll, a conservative activist from Bethlehem, Pa. “Believe it or not, they won’t leave Trump for anything. But it’s not because they love Trump, it’s because they love their families, they love their country, and they were fearful of what was gonna happen if Hillary Clinton got elected president.”

Some voters said Trump is being punished by the media for having defeated Clinton.

“The press has an agenda, and it isn’t the same agenda as his,” said Pennsylvanian Keith Jones. “Hillary was their darling, Obama was their darling. And you kick them in the shins there, and they get a little ornery. They’re ornery, and they’re trying to run Trump into the ground.”

New Navy Weapon Can Hit Targets at the Speed of Light

According to CNN the US Navy's newest weapon is capable of hitting targets at the speed of light and is developing second-generation weapons to hit missiles at the speed of light

The Laser Weapons System (or “LaWS”) can easily take down drone aircraft. Unlike other laser weapons, which are suitable only for certain types of targets, LaWS can be used against both air- and land-based targets.

LaWS is “more precise than a bullet,” says Captain Christopher Wells.

The laser operates within an invisible part of the electromagnetic spectrum and destroys targets by heating them to a temperature of thousands of degrees. The attack moves 50,000 times faster than the ICBM. It is silent and completely invisible.

“It really is a point and shoot,” says Lt. Cale Hughes, laser weapons system officer. “We see it, we focus on it, and we can negate that target.”

This new weapon significantly minimizes collateral damage and also reflects the military's efforts to develop more cost effective weapons.

The LaWS cost $40 million, but runs off its own generator and requires no ammunition. It costs about $1 per shot, which is extremely cost effective compared to other weapons - like the $1 million Tomahawk cruise missile. It takes three men to operate the laser.

WikiLeaks Releases Info of Alledged Democrat Plot to Blame Russia for Hacking Election

On Thursday July 13, 2017, WikiLeaks tweeted information that CyberBerkut released a batch of emails between Ukraine and the Clinton Foundation, with a link to the CyberBerkut webpage.

When you go on the CyberBerkut page, the most intriguing thing comes at the end — an email on January 8, 2017, i.e., after Hillary Clinton had lost the presidential election to Donald Trump, showing the Democrats plotting to manufacture the phony story that Russia had hacked the election.

CyberBerkut claims they were given the email by a “whistleblower” and that the names of the email sender and receiver are blacked out to protect the identity of the whistleblower.

Below is the text of the email, followed by a screenshot of the email:

13.01.2017 The United States to Manufacture False Evidence of Russian Involvement in Cyber Attacks

CyberBerkut notes that:

“Our whistleblowers gave us information that Russia was going to face great provocation. The Americans intend to manufacture false evidence of the Russian security services’ involvement in cyber attacks during the U.S. presidential elections 2016. We cover the names of the provocation facilitators in order not to expose our sources. It is worth saying, a famous American politician and major financier took part in the plot.”

Is the “famous American politician” Hillary Clinton, and the “major financier” George Soros?

Comeys Memos on Trump Contained Classified Info

According to The Hill:

More than half of the memos former FBI Director James Comey wrote as personal recollections of his conversations with President Trump about the Russia investigation have been determined to contain classified information, according to interviews with officials familiar with the documents.

This revelation raises the possibility that Comey broke his own agency’s rules and ignored the same security protocol that he publicly criticized Hillary Clinton for in the waning days of the 2016 presidential election.

Comey testified last month he considered the memos to be personal documents and that he shared at least one of them with a friend. He asked that friend, a lawyer at Columbia University, to leak information from one memo to the news media in hopes of increasing pressure to get a special prosecutor named in the Russia case after Comey was fired as FBI director.

When the seven memos Comey wrote regarding his nine conversations with Trump about Russia earlier this year were shown to Congress in recent days, the FBI claimed all were, in fact, deemed to be government documents.

Four of the memos had markings making clear they contained information classified at the secret or confidential level, according to officials directly familiar with the matter.

PBS Poll: More Americans Trust Trump Than Media or Congress

Monday's PBS NewsHour spotlighted the low trust in the news media, according to the results of their latest poll. Only 30 percent of those surveyed by NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist trust the press "a good deal" or "a great amount.

" The Trump administration scored seven points better in the same poll. Guest Stuart Rothenberg bemoaned the "horrible trend" towards distrust of the media over the past several decades. NPR's Tamara Keith underlined that "these numbers are part of a very long trend of institutions losing trust from the American people; and that...puts America at risk."

"One of the things we looked at was...[the] high distrust of the news media!"

Largest Pro-Second Amendment Bill In Iowa History Took Effect July 1

The Iowa Firearms Coalition states that the HF517 bill is not only the largest pro-second amendment bill to be passed in Iowa’s history, but it is also 2017’s most comprehensive pro-gun owner bill that has been passed in the entire nation!

Here is a complete breakdown of each provision covered by HF517:

Division 1 – Legalizing SBRs/SBSs – effective July 1
Removes Short Barreled Rifles (SBRs) and Short Barreled Shotguns (SBSs) from Iowa’s list of
“Offensive Weapons”

Division 2 – Going Armed with Intent – effective July 1
Makes it so that lawfully carrying a firearms does not imply intent to harm another person.

Division 2 – Duty to Carry Permit – effective July 1
Under Iowa law citizens with a Permit to Carry Weapons shall have their permit in their
“immediate possession.” Failure to do this is a misdemeanor.

Division 3 – Firearm Safety Training Program – effective July 1
Hunter Safety Courses that include a handgun safety training program will be accepted as valid
training needed to qualify for a Permit to Carry.

Division 3 – Permit Renewal Requirements – effective July 1
Firearm safety training is no longer needed for permit renewals, only for your initial Permit to
Carry application.

Division 3 – Permits for Military Personnel and Veterans – effective July 1
A military veteran’s DD214 is now acceptable for proof of training for permit renewals (in
addition to initial Permit to Carry applications).

Division 3 – Permit Renewal Window – effective July 1
Permit renewal period extended to 30 days before and 30 days after the expiration date listed
on a Permit to Carry.

Division 3 – Permit Costs – effective July 1
The cost of a Permit to Carry is set at $50 for the initial permit. The price of Permit to Carry
renewals or duplicate permits shall be set at $25. Sheriff’s departments may not charge
additional fees or charges for Permits to Carry.

Division 3 – Uniform Permits – effective July 1
All permits shall have a uniform appearance statewide.

Division 3 – Appealing Denied Permit Applications – effective July 1
If a permit is denied by a sheriff the applicant can appeal. If it is determined that the applicant
was wrongly denied the sheriff’s department shall be responsible for the applicant’s court and

for the sheriff’s court and reasonable attorney’s fees.

Division 4 – Permit to Acquire – effective July 1
Permit to Acquire pistols or revolvers are now valid for five years instead of one.

Division 5 – Supervised Youth Handgun Shooting – effective IMMEDIATELY

legally shoot pistols or revolvers so long as they’re under the direct supervision of a sober
parent, guardian or instructor over the age of 21.

Division 6 – Permit Privacy – effective IMMEDIATELY
The personal information contained on a Permit to Carry or Permit to Acquire cannot be shared
outside of law enforcement use. The Department of Public Safety or Sheriff’s Departments may
share statistical information only, e.g. “There was a 90% increase in Permits to Carry issued in
2017.” This prevents the malicious mass collection and publication of Permit holder’s private
information by media outlets.

Division 7 – Preemption/Suing Local Government – effective July 1
A political subdivision (city, county or township) shall not enact an ordinance banning the lawful
possession of weapons (aka gun free zone). If a political subdivision preempts state law and
bans the law possession of weapons a citizen may sue that subdivision for being adversely
affected. Citizens can sue their local city for breaking Iowa weapons law by enacting gun free
zones.

Division 8 – Capitol Carry – effective July 1
Citizens holding a valid Permit to Carry may carry concealed a pistol or revolver within the state
capitol and it’s parking lots.

Division 9 – Emergency Powers – effective July 1

ammunition.

Division 10 – Stand Your Ground – effective July 1
Allows lawful citizens to use reasonable force (that force and no more which a reasonable
person, in like circumstances, would judge to be necessary to prevent injury or loss of life).
Removes a lawful citizen’s duty to retreat. Also includes Civil Immunity. If you are deemed to
have acted in a reasonable manner and cleared of any wrongdoing in a criminal court you
cannot be sued in civil court. If you are forced to use deadly force you must call the authorities
in a reasonable time period and no intentionally destroy or alter evidence.

Division 11 – Enhanced Straw Purchasing Penalties – effective July 1

58% of Democrats Say Party Needs New Leadership !

Democrats are saying it’s time for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to go, arguing that losses in this year’s special congressional elections show that their party needs new, younger leadership. Most Democrats agree.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 31% of Likely Democratic Voters believe the current national leadership of their party is representative of most Democrats. Most (58%) feel instead that the party needs to find new leaders. Eleven percent (11%) are undecided.

Among all likely voters, only 23% feel the Democratic leadership is representative of their voter base, while 64% think new leadership is needed. Twelve percent (12%) are not sure.

Just 11% of Democrats said in late April that their party’s efforts to oppose President Trump during his first 100 days in office were successful.

Among voters who Strongly Disapprove of the president’s job performance, 55% say Democrats need to find new leaders.

Most voters agreed in late February that it was bad for the country and for the Democratic Party if Democrats continued to totally oppose everything Trump does. Even Democrats were conflicted about this anti-Trump strategy.

Fed Judge Blocks California’s Latest Gun Grab

A Federal district judge has blocked a ban on so-called “high capacity” magazines from going into effect on Saturday. Californians approved the ban as a part of Proposition 63 which also mandated background checks for ammunition.

U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez issued the preliminary injunction that found the law was likely unconstitutional. Benitez reasoned that it was unconstitutional because it did not allow gun owners to use firearms that used, “whatever common magazine size he or she judges best suits the situation.” according to the Sacramento Bee. The law forbid Californians from possessing any magazines that contain more than 10 bullets.

“The State of California’s desire to criminalize simple possession of a firearm magazine able to hold more than 10 rounds is precisely the type of policy choice that the Constitution takes off the table.”

The sale of “high-capacity” magazines has been outlawed in California since 2000. However, those who had the magazines before the ban went into effect were allowed to keep their magazines.

Pro-gun California sheriffs were not exactly lining up to enforce the new ban.

“We’re not going to be knocking on anybody’s door looking for them,” Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko said. “We’re essentially making law-abiding citizens into criminals with this new law.”

It’s always a good day whenever a judge tosses out one of California’s anti-freedom laws. This particular law not only made criminals out of law-abiding citizens, but it also makes them less safe. When facing multiple criminals such as in a gang home invasion, it’s good to have a high-capacity magazine weapon.

The lawsuit was brought by the National Rifle Association’s affiliate, the California Rifle & Pistol Association.

Did the FBI Retaliate Against Michael Flynn by Launching Russia Probe?

The FBI launched a criminal probe against former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn two years after the retired Army general roiled the bureau’s leadership by intervening on behalf of a decorated counterterrorism agent who accused now-Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe and other top officials of sexual discrimination, according to documents and interviews.

The FBI sought to block Flynn’s support for the agent, asking a federal administrative law judge in May 2014 to keep Flynn and others from becoming a witness in her Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) case, memos obtained by Circa show. Two years later, the FBI opened its inquiry of Flynn.

The EEOC case, which is still pending, was serious enough to require McCabe to submit to a sworn statement to investigators, the documents show.

The deputy director’s testimony provided some of the strongest evidence in the case of possible retaliation, because he admitted the FBI opened an internal investigation into Gritz’s personal conduct after learning the agent “had filed or intended to file” a sex discrimination complaint against her supervisors.

McCabe eventually became the bureau’s No. 2 executive and emerged as a central player in the FBI’s Russia election tampering investigation, putting him in a position to impact the criminal inquiry against Flynn.

Three FBI employees told Circa they personally witnessed McCabe make disparaging remarks about Flynn before and during the time the retired Army general emerged as a figure in the Russia case.

The bureau employees, who spoke only on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, said they did not know the reason for McCabe’s displeasure with Flynn, but that it made them uncomfortable as the Russia probe began to unfold and pressure built to investigate Flynn. One employee even consulted a private lawyer.

“As far as the troops in the field, the vast-majority were disgusted with the Russia decision, but that was McCabe driving the result that eventually led [former FBI Director James] Comey to make the decision,” said a senior federal law enforcement official, with direct knowledge of the investigation.

One of the FBI’s most famous whistleblowers says McCabe has an ethical obligation to recuse himself in the Flynn probe to avoid the appearance of retribution or bias.

“I don't think they have any choice. He has to step aside,” said Frederic Whitehurst, who as an FBI special agent and forensic chemist blew the whistle on misdeeds inside the FBI crime lab two decades ago and prompted widespread reforms.

“If he stays involved, the case against Flynn has no credibility,” explained Whitehurst, now often called as an expert witness in court cases. “If there are criminal charges that could go against Flynn, that's got to go to court. And those agents at some point may be called before a grand jury and anything he (McCabe) said to them about Flynn could be used as exonerating information or evidence of misconduct.”

Report: FBI Collaborated with Dem Oppo Research Firm to Smear Trump

A secretive Washington firm that commissioned the dubious intelligence dossier on Donald Trump is stonewalling congressional investigators trying to learn more about its connections to the Democratic Party.

The Senate Judiciary Committee earlier this month threatened to subpoena the firm, Fusion GPS, after it refused to answer questions and provide records to the panel identifying who financed the error-ridden dossier, which was circulated during the election and has sparked much of the Russia scandal now engulfing the White House.

What is the company hiding? Fusion GPS describes itself as a “research and strategic intelligence firm” founded by “three former Wall Street Journal investigative reporters.” But congressional sources say it’s actually an opposition-research group for Democrats, and the founders, who are more political activists than journalists, have a pro-Hillary Clinton, anti-Trump agenda.

“These weren’t mercenaries or hired guns,” a congressional source familiar with the dossier probe said. “These guys had a vested personal and ideological interest in smearing Trump and boosting Hillary’s chances of winning the White House.”

Fusion GPS was on the payroll of an unidentified Democratic ally of Clinton when it hired a long-retired British spy to dig up dirt on Trump. In 2012, Democrats hired Fusion GPS to uncover dirt on GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney. And in 2015, Democratic ally Planned Parenthood retained Fusion GPS to investigate pro-life activists protesting the abortion group.

Moreover, federal records show a key co-founder and partner in the firm was a Hillary Clinton donor and supporter of her presidential campaign.

In September 2016, while Fusion GPS was quietly shopping the dirty dossier on Trump around Washington, its co-founder and partner Peter R. Fritsch contributed at least $1,000 to the Hillary Victory Fund and the Hillary For America campaign, Federal Election Commission data show. His wife also donated money to Hillary’s campaign.

Finally...State Department Investigating Hillary Clinton for Mishandling Classified Intel

Fox News, is reporting that the State Department has opened a formal inquiry into former Secretary of State and two-time presidential loser Hillary Clinton’s emails, along with her possible mishandling of classified information.

Don’t get too excited, this investigation will not lead to the Hillary “perp walk” many of us dream of seeing, but is important for protecting U.S. secrets.  Believe it or not Ms. Clinton and her staffers still have security clearances  and access to America’s most classified information. Those clearances can be revoked as a result of this inquiry.

The department’s investigation aims to determine whether Clinton and her closest aides violated government protocols by using her private server to receive, hold and transmit classified and top-secret government documents. The department declined to say when its inquiry began, but it follows the conclusion of the FBI’s probe into the matter, which did not result in any actions being taken against Clinton or any of her aides.

Report: Flint Airport Stabbing of Officer Probed as Terrorism

Investigators have identified the man they say attacked a police officer at Bishop Airport yesterday as Amor M. Ftouhi, a 50-year-old Canadian citizen.

The affidavit from FBI Special Agent Thomas M. Sondgeroth says an officer who observed the attack on police officer LT Jeff Neville told him Ftouhi used a large knife to stab the victim.

Ftouhi yelled "Allahu Akbar" -- "Allah is the greatest" -- before making the attack, according to the affidavit.

Ftouhi entered the first-floor lobby at the Bishop Airport at approximately 8:52 a.m. Wednesday, carrying a red duffle and dark satchel bag, traveling up an escalator and spending roughly 20 minutes at the airport restaurant before attacking Neville, officials said. Before he stabbed the lieutenant in the neck, Fthoui entered a restroom with his luggage and left approximately 30 seconds later, carrying no bags.

It was then that he allegedly walked up to the officer, yelled  "Allahu Akbar" -- "Allah is the greatest" -- and stabbed him in the neck. After stabbing the officer in the neck, Ftouhi continued to yell, "Allah," several times, followed by something similar to, "You have killed people in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and we are all going to die," the FBI's criminal complaint said.

Ftouhi is scheduled to appear next in Flint U.S. District Court on Wednesday, June 28 at 2:30 p.m. He is currently detained in the Genesee County Jail.

Report: FBI Agents Believe Lynch, Bill Clinton Struck ‘An Inside Deal on Tarmac

According to The New York Post, FBI agents who worked on the Hillary Clinton email investigation are privately upset with the decision not to charge her and are quietly alleging that Attorney General Loretta Lynch must have struck a deal with her husband Bill Clinton during their private meeting.

The Post cites anonymous sources in the FBI who claim that agents investigating Clinton were subject to higher-than-usual scrutiny. Agents had to sign “Case Briefing Acknowledgment” forms, non-disclosure agreements keeping them from speaking to anyone about the case unless called to testify. As a result, agents cannot go public with their opinions of the case.

FBI agents expressed their “disappointment” over FBI Director James Comey’s decision not to recommend charges against Clinton, sources close to the matter told The Post.

“FBI agents believe there was an inside deal put in place after the Loretta Lynch/Bill Clinton tarmac meeting,” said one source.

Another source from the Justice Department was “furious” with Comey, saying he’s “managed to piss off right and left.”

Obama 2008 Victory Questioned After New Voting Data Revealed

One of the democrats’ favorite scams during election season is to downplay the rampant voter fraud that occurs throughout the United States.

Now, as we examine the many ways in which voter fraud is allowed to occur in America, one glaring concern are the votes cast by illegal aliens and undocumented citizens.  In the case of those specific voters, who vote democrat across the board, we need to really examine what happened in 2008 when Barack Obama was elected to his first disastrous term as President.

“A research group in New Jersey has taken a fresh look at postelection polling data and concluded that the number of noncitizens voting illegally in U.S. elections is likely far greater than previous estimates.

“As many as 5.7 million noncitizens may have voted in the 2008 election, which put Barack Obama in the White House.

“The research organization Just Facts, a widely cited, independent think tank led by self-described conservatives and libertarians, revealed its number-crunching in a report on national immigration.

“Just Facts President James D. Agresti and his team looked at data from an extensive Harvard/YouGov study that every two years questions a sample size of tens of thousands of voters. Some acknowledge they are noncitizens and are thus ineligible to vote.”

The liberal media scoffed heartily at President Trump’s insistence that he may have captured both the electoral majority and popular vote majority based on similar concerns during the 2016 election, but this latest data seems to lend credence to the Commander in Chief’s claim.

Military Officials: TERRORISM Possible in Collision with Cargo Ship and USS Fitzgerald

US military officials aren’t ruling anything out, including that the collision with the USS Fitzgerald was both intentional and a terrorist act:

What’s interesting from this report is that GMA says that multiple maritime trackers show the cargo ship doing a massive u-turn just before hitting the USS Fitzgerald, which makes it look very intentional:

Also notice that the ship directly hit the area of the ship were sailors were sleeping. Is that a coincidence?
GMA reports that company that owns the cargo ship is now saying that the u-turn never happened and the incident happened 50 minutes earlier than the US Navy reports it.

Here are the seven sailors who died in the collision:

Jay Sekulow: POTUS NOT being investigated for obstruction

“Let me be clear here,” said Jay Sekulow, a member of the president’s legal team, on NBC’s “Meet The Press.” “The president is not and has not been under investigation for obstruction.”

On Friday morning, President Trump sent a tweet that seemed to confirm that he was under scrutiny, writing, “I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt.”

But Sekulow claimed the president wasn’t referring to an actual investigation in the message, but instead a news report about one

“The tweet from the president was in response to the five anonymous sources purportedly leaking information to the Washington Post,” he said, referring to the Post’s report this week that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the election now also includes a look at whether President Trump attempted to obstruct justice. …

The Result of Left Putting All Their Eggs in Comey’s Basket

In fact, the only real revelation blew up in their faces. Robert Gehl reports that amid the nothing that is James Comey’s Senate testimony are comments the former FBI Director made that actually are making news.

Comey said he was “concerned” and “confused” by orders from then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch to downplay the Clinton email investigation.

During the testimony Thursday morning, Sen. Richard Burr, a Republican from North Carolina, asked Comey if his decision to make public comments about the Clinton investigation was influenced by Lynch’s “tarmac meeting” with Bill Clinton at the Phoenix airport.

“Yes. In an ultimately conclusive way, that was the thing that capped it for me, that I had to do something separately to protect the credibility of the investigation, which meant both the FBI and the Justice Department,” Comey said.

“Were there other things that contributed to that that you can describe in an open session?” Burr asked.
Comey said the one he could speak out about was an unusual directive from Lynch.

“At one point, the attorney general had directed me not to call it an investigation but instead to call it a matter, which confused me and concerned me,” Comey said.

The Impeach - Trump Conspiracy

By Patrick J. Buchanan

Pressed by Megyn Kelly on his ties to President Trump, an exasperated Vladimir Putin blurted out, "We had no relationship at all. ... I never met him. ... Have you all lost your senses over there?"

Yes, Vlad, we have.

Consider the questions that have convulsed this city since the Trump triumph, and raised talk of impeachment.
Did Trump collude with Russians to hack the DNC emails and move the goods to WikiLeaks, thus revealing the state secret that DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz was putting the screws to poor Bernie Sanders?

If not Trump himself, did campaign aides collude with the KGB?

Now, given that our NSA and CIA seemingly intercept everything Russians say to Americans, why is our fabled FBI, having investigated for a year, unable to give us a definitive yes or no?

The snail's pace of the FBI investigation explains Trump's frustration. What explains the FBI's torpor? If J. Edgar Hoover had moved at this pace, John Dillinger would have died of old age.

We hear daily on cable TV of the "Trump-Russia" scandal. Yet, no one has been charged with collusion, and every intelligence official, past or prevent, who has spoken out has echoed ex-acting CIA Director Mike Morrell:
"On the question of the Trump campaign conspiring with the Russians here, there is smoke, but there is no fire, at all. ... There's no little campfire, there's no little candle, there's no spark."
Where are the criminals? Where is the crime?

As for the meetings between Gen. Mike Flynn, Jared Kushner, Sen. Jeff Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, it appears that Trump wanted a "back channel" to Putin so he could honor his commitment to seek better relations with Russia.
Given the Russophobia rampant here, that makes sense. And while it appears amateurish that Flynn would use Russian channels of communication, what is criminal about this?

Putin is not Stalin. Soviet divisions are not sitting on the Elbe. The Cold War is over. And many presidents have used back channels. Woodrow Wilson sent Col. Edward House to talk to the Kaiser and the Brits. FDR ran messages to Churchill through Harry Hopkins.
As for Trump asking Director James Comey to cut some slack for Flynn, it is understandable in human terms. Flynn had been a loyal aide and friend and Trump had to feel rotten about having to fire the man.
So, what is really going on here?

All the synthetic shock over what Kushner or Sessions said to Kislyak aside, this city's hatred for President Trump, and its fanatic determination to bring him down in disgrace, predates his presidency.

For Trump ran in 2016 not simply as the Republican alternative. He presented his candidacy as a rejection, a repudiation of the failed elites, political and media, of both parties. Americans voted in 2016 not just for a change in leaders but for a revolution to overthrow a ruling regime.
Thus this city has never reconciled itself to Trump's victory, and the president daily rubs their noses in their defeat with his tweets.
Seeking a rationale for its rejection, this city has seized upon that old standby. We didn't lose! The election was stolen in a vast conspiracy, an "act of war" against America, an assault upon "our democracy," criminal collusion between the Kremlin and the Trumpites.

Hence, Trump is an illegitimate president, and it is the duty of brave citizens of both parties to work to remove the usurper.
The city seized upon a similar argument in 1968, when Richard Nixon won, because it was said he had colluded to have South Vietnam's president abort Lyndon Johnson's new plan to bring peace to Southeast Asia in the final hours of that election.
Then, as now, the "t" word, treason, was trotted out.

Attempts to overturn elections where elites are repudiated are not uncommon in U.S. history. Both Nixon and Reagan, after 49-state landslides, were faced with attempts to overturn the election results.

With Nixon in Watergate, the elites succeeded. With Reagan in Iran-Contra, they almost succeeded in destroying that great president as he was ending the Cold War in a bloodless victory for the West.

After Lincoln's assassination, President Andrew Johnson sought to prevent Radical Republicans from imposing a ruthless Reconstruction on a defeated and devastated South.

The Radicals enacted the Tenure of Office Act, stripping Johnson of his authority to remove any member of the Cabinet without Senate permission. Johnson defied the Radicals and fired their agent in the Cabinet, Secretary of War Edwin Stanton.
"Tennessee" Johnson was impeached, and missed conviction by one vote. John F. Kennedy, in his 1956 book, called the senator who had voted to save Johnson a "Profile in Courage."

If Trump is brought down on the basis of what Putin correctly labels "nonsense," this city will have executed a nonviolent coup against a constitutionally elected president. Such an act would drop us into the company of those Third World nations where such means are the customary ways that corrupt elites retain their hold on power.
